I just registered. I haven't done a tradeshow with this lutherie thing before...it makes me nervous, but I guess I will be there .

So, will I get to see many of you?

The hold out for me is whether I had decent wood to show off. I just processed some sets from logs I have in the yard and MAN is this stuff stiff, clean and resonant. So I am happy with the wood and am excited and nervous at the same time. My day job keeps me away from home a lot so I really don't like taking another weekend away from the family (ere go the mixed feelings!) but I think GAL should be GREAT!!

Hope to see many of you there!

Shane

Shane,

Enjoy it, you'll sell lots I'm sure. I'm in the process of making two instruments with the tops you sent. Lovely stuff!!

Shane, I'm really glad to hear you'll be there. I look forward to meeting you and checking out your top wood. I hope you find the trip well worth it - I'm pretty sure you will.

See you in a few weeks!

Shane, I'm delighted you'll be there.
I'll get a chance to peruse your wares up close and personal. Spruce is one of the things I really like to buy in person, so bring some nice stuff.

I second a couple of suggestions, namely some family there to help you, a camera for posterity, and bring some brace stock, too!

See you then,
Steve

Hey Shane, I'll be there too! I am looking forward to it. I am finishing up a guitar to bring right now, and if I knew you were going I would have chosen one of the tops I got from you, to help you out...but I didn't. <G> But I can tell folks how nice it is...
And also, if you need any help setting up or packing up on sunday, I will be around! My plane doesn't leave the airport to come home until 5am monday morning, so I'll have lots of time on sunday to help you pack up!
Of course, you probably won't be taking any wood back with you- it'll ALL sell!

Glad you're going to make it down. I'm looking forward to meeting you. Are you going to bring any of your dishes?

Thanks Guys! It should be a great time. I would love to bring the family but I think it will have to wait until the next time, a 3 and 6 year old can sometimes be a little much...but a 5 and 8 year old...now we are talking!!

Scott I was thinking about bringing a few, if I do (time will be the deciding factor) what radii are you hoping to see?

Thanks again

Shane

Thanks again everyone.....fingers are crossed.

Mike you did hit one of the issues, getting the wood there. There is no duty on this stuff but I need to research that part a bit more. I have been given some advice on this though.

I was going to go, but I just have too much more $$$ I need to invest in my shop and materials - next year I will have guitars I have crafted, so it will be much better time to go I believe. Im really disappointed - but then again I will be building by then so it wont be too bad.
Cheers

Charlie, there won't be another GAL convention for another THREE YEARS. That's how long they wait in-between.
If you want something to do next summer, ASIA will be having another one then I believe.

Does GAL or ASIA rotate where they are having shows? Do they ever consider sites in the southern states?

The GAL Convention stays close to home. ASIA's Symposium moves around the upper half of the east coast area. They have had a couple in Nashville, but I believe that that's not on the agenda anymore.

Hey Shane,

Here's a question: do you have any bearclaw?
If so, could you bring that to ogle?
And how about some Alaskan Yellow Cedar?

Hmmmm?

Definitely bring other woods if you have them! Redwood too! Everyone has spruce, there's a ton of that there but not that many other types of top woods.
